Contact Admin. There are lots of scenic roads in Vermont. A few offer impressive views I went from Warren to Lincoln There were spotters who were reporting where fall colors were. The road does go from paved to unpaved but not bad at times and you do have to be careful of grooves in the road I assume from snow plows??? I don't know. It is a beautiful drive and the canopy of trees as you drive through is beautiful. I wish there was more color when I went through, but it is worth the drive. Stop in Warren, VT at the end.
They have a cute general store where you can buy lunch, gifts, pastries, etc. I did Lincoln and App gap today, and while I look forward to it again, I'll bring a lower gear. It tips up to about 20pct and stays there.
No matter how much wishing there is no mercy in this climb The decent is quick with sharp turns then turns to dirt. Be careful not to overcook the corners! I used a mid compact with 28cassette on the back Just make sure vehicle will stay cool enough going up a challenging hill and your brakes are in good shape for the ride down the other side.
Note- this road is closed in the winter, by early May it still had closed signs to the Warren side, but there were plenty of drivers.
More houses than I remember going up the Lincoln side from a few years ago, but that is pretty typical of VT development. There are only a few places to pull over for views and pictures, but the twisting ride up the mountain going from dirt to pavement and back to dirt makes for a fun experience. Parking access to the trail was adequate, not sure about a busy summer weekend. Lincoln Gap is a beautiful, twisting, steep, and slow-paced backroad gem right in the heart of the Green Mountains.
